Evidence for God.
LIFE PROVES THERE IS A GOD.
“A little science estranges men from God, but much science leads them back to Him.” – Louis Pasteur
Just simply looking around should make it obvious that there is a designer/creator. Every building has a constructor, every painting a painter, every book a writer. The world is beautiful and its chemical balance is perfect, it could not possibly be chance or mistake which created such variety, yet harmony.
“This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful being.” – Isaac Newton
Even the similarities show a single source. The genetic makeup which humans share with other living things shows a common designer. The fact that pigs, dogs, cats, rats, elephants, giraffes all have 4 legs, 2 eyes, 2 ears, etc. shows a singular maker akin to the signature characteristics of different car makers. Yet the differences between; lungs and gills, feathers and fur, wings and forelegs, proves this maker is also creative. All living things could not have come from one another, but were designed to meet each of their specific purposes.
“It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun in just this way, except as the act of a God who intended to create beings like us.” – Stephen Hawking, “A Brief History of Time”
“In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what makes me really angry is that they quote me for support of such views.” – Albert Einstein
Lee Strobel, who arrived at this end result years ago, has commented, “Essentially, I realized that to stay an atheist, I would have to believe that nothing produces everything; non-life produces life; randomness produces fine-tuning; chaos produces information; unconsciousness produces consciousnes; and non-reason produces reason. Those leaps of faith were simply too big for me to take, especially in light of the affirmative case for God’s existence … In other words, in my assessment the Christian worldview accounted for the totality of the evidence much better than the atheistic worldview.”
LOVE PROVES THERE IS A GOD.
Humanity is selfish. From a child we show our true nature.
“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.” – Mark Twain
Sure we want good for others, as long as it benefits me in some way, or I don’t have to sacrifice too much. Much of the ‘good’ we do is for the benefit of making us look good, or feel good. Love, which is very different than pity or compassion, is a decision not a feeling. Love is a choice. It is a choice to sacrifice myself for the benefit of others who cannot benefit me. That is supernatural.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
MIRACLES PROVE THERE IS A GOD.
If the laws of nature exist, then whatever happens that breaks them must be supernatural or outside of nature. While many people will define a miracle simply as an act of God, wherein most common things may be called miracles; here the intended signification is the rare occurrence of an event which actually goes against the normal process and cannot ever be explained by natural means.
In theology, an event or effect contrary to the established constitution and course of things, or a deviation from the known laws of nature; a supernatural event. – 1828 Webster Dictionary
There are often times when doctors, scientists, therapists, and psychologists have no explanation for an event. Of course not everything incomprehensible constitutes a miracle, but there are those occasions when it truly is a miracle. Only an active outside/superior force could suspend the laws of nature. Therefore “Mother Nature” isn’t king!
It may be difficult for someone to believe in true miracles who has never experienced one, but for someone who has; it is impossible to dissuade them.
SPIRITUAL INSTINCT PROVES THERE IS A GOD.
No matter where you go, you will find in every city, jungle, and island people who worship a higher power. Look through history and study anthropology or dig with an archaeologist and one thing is clear; if you don’t believe there is something above us, then you are in an infinitely small minority.
“I think there was something built into the human brain by natural selection which was once useful and which now manifests itself under civilized conditions as religion…” – Charles Dawkins.
All over the world in every day which has passed people have followed their instinct that calls them to something greater than themselves. While individual’s may come to different results, the conclusion is unanimous, A supernatural being exists.
MORALS PROVE THAT THERE IS A GOD.
All people recognize some type of moral code; right from wrong. Right and wrong suppose that there is a judge who determines what is right and wrong, good and bad.
“Although differences certainly exist in civil matters, virtues like bravery and loyalty and vices like greed and cowardice are universal.” – gotquestions.org.
It is not you or I, or the government which sets morals. If moral obligations were simply dependent on man, it would be different all over the world. What makes it even more convincing is that man rarely lives up to his own moral code.
“There is indeed a law, right reason, which is in accordance with nature ; existing in all, unchangeable, eternal. Commanding us to do what is right, forbidding us to do what is wrong. It has dominion over good men, but possesses no influence over bad ones. No other law can be substituted for it, no part of it can be taken away, nor can it be abrogated altogether. Neither the people or the senate can absolve from it. It is not one thing at Rome, and another thing at Athens : one thing to-day, and another thing to-morrow ; but it is eternal and immutable for all nations and for all time.” – Cicero
Romans 2:14-15, “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)“
DIVINE REVELATION PROVES THERE IS A GOD.
If there was a source on Earth that could be found to be of supernatural origin, then it would prove a higher power. If a revelation were to be received wherein one could find details of future events without error, accurate in its history, and correct in every detail, then it would prove the existence of something outside of the Earth. The Bible fits this description. What makes it even more incredible is that it was not written by one man in a single time, but by over 40 men in over 1,500 years, three languages, and three continents. The Bible establishes its own validity and proves over and over again that it is of supernatural origin.
You may not agree with ever detail of this argument, but can you see there are logical points to faith in God? Maybe you are one who has always felt the instinct to seek God, but have ignored it.
Are you willing to confess that there is a higher power?
