“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:8-13
Born Again
In John chapter 3 we find Jesus talking to a religious man named Nicodemus. He told Nicodemus that it was necessary for him to be born again.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3
Birth happens. Being born is a very matter of fact event. It is not something in question. Nobody has to ask, have you ever been born? When it comes to being born again, it is also a matter of fact. No one should ever wonder or be confused if they are born again or not.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1Giovanni 5:13
If you were asked today, are you born again? You could be just as confident that you are born of the Spirit of God, as you are that you were born of a woman.
Sudden Salvation
The New Testament gives many examples of people who were confidently saved from Hell at a specific point in time.
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers… Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” Acts 2:36-47
Years later when Paul and Silas were in prison for preaching about Jesus, they began singing and praising God. And all the sudden the cell doors were all opened and all their handcuffs dropped from their hands and they were all loose and standing there before the guard. The guard, obviously frightened said,
“Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.” Acts 16:30-33
Cry out to God
God is not impressed or offended by your nationality, gender, or race. He cares about everyone, He loves everyone. He is eager to hear from you.
“For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:12-13
It doesn’t matter what bad things you have done. Salvation is not what you do for God, but it is what God has done for you. It is a gift available for everyone.
“And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43
Preparing for birth takes time, but the birth happens at a specific place and time. It may take the gospel some time to develop in a person, but salvation happens at a specific place and time. It doesn’t matter if you’re religious like Nicodemus or wicked like the thief, it is not important if you are in a church or on the cross. Either way and any way, everyone must come to the time when they become born again.
“For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2
If God would forgive you of all the sins you have ever done in the past and every future sin you could commit, would you accept His free gift of eternal life?
If your answer to the above question is yes, then in the faith that you have, call out to God. Talk to Him and tell Him that you believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Ask Him for the free gift of eternal life and be born again!
